It is one of those things that when brought up can make people feel uncomfortable. But, it is so important for couples to counsel together and talk about it. I have found that when my husband and I talk about these things we are happier and I can feel love for him more. I love that in the reading this week it said

"sometimes its fun, sometimes its comforting, sometimes its romantic, sometimes spiritual, and sometimes its just a willingness to love."

I think these words describe physical intimacy perfectly. We also learned that divorce often can occur over physical intimacy. Some of the solutions that were mention were; seek answers, communicate, and be calm and open about it. I think these are so important in every relationship. I know that when we talk about these sacred matters and communicate with our Father in Heaven about it as well that we can find joy and happiness.
I really do believe that working together as a family can be rewarding and build family relations. From the family proclamation we are taught that,

" successful families are built on wholesome recreational activities."

Growing up my family rarely did things together but I can remember all the times we did. Each time we did something together it made me feel so happy and close with my family. Whether it was going to the beach together or doing something as simple as yard work together on a Saturday morning, I loved it! I loved it because I was able to spend time with those that I love.
In my own family life my husband and I don’t have children yet, but we still notice our relationships being built as we do things together. I want to make sure that I do things with my future family and make tons of memories. Whether it's going somewhere together or doing family chores together I want my children to know that we can do those things together and that it can be fun and rewarding.

It is God's commandment to multiply and replenish the earth. Yet there are so many people who struggle to have families and suffer from infertility and perinatal loss. Infertility and perinatal loss is one of those things that people don’t really talk about. These are things that many people experience yet, no one knows people are going through it. In the article titled "Coping with Grief in Perinatal Loss" it says,

“Perinatal death is tragic, but there are many ways of coping. There is no one method that is perfect for everyone. Your bereavement process can be as unique as you are. We hope that you will be able to find a source of comfort and healing that works best for you, and that someday you will be able to face the future with peace and hope.”

I have experienced this in my own life. I recently had a miscarriage and it was really hard for me and my husband. We felt discourage and somewhat lost. I think the one thing that helped me to overcome this was knowing that everything happens for a reason and to trust in the Lord’s timing. I have found a lot of peace and comfort knowing I am not alone in this. Another thing that has been very helpful is knowing that there are resources out there. It wasn’t until I had a miscarriage that I realized how common it is. Talking with other women who have experienced the same thing has really helped me heal and cope with this.

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"The family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children... <span class="dominant" style="background: 0px 0px rgb(255 , 255 , 255); border: 0px; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-transform: uppercase; vertical-align: baseline;">IN THE PREMORTAL REALM,<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life" (Th Family a Proclamation to The World).

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I am so grateful that we have eternal families. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe in the plan of happiness. This is the plan that Heavenly Father set forth for His children to return to live with Him again. Families have been around since the beginning. We all existed first as spirit sons or daughters to Heavenly parents.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I know that I can live with my family again. I know that because of the atonement of Jesus Christ I can be forgiven and made clean to enter into the presence of God. President Henry B. Eyring stated,

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It truly brings so much joy into my life to know that my family will be with me forever. They have been with me through everything in this life, so why wouldn't I want them to be with me through everything in the life to come.

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"Families can be together forever, through Heavenly Fathers plan. I always want to be with my own family and the lord has shown me how I can"

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #666666; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Mothers have a natural need to care and nurture children. Heavenly Father made woman loving, caring, patient, and so much more. These amazing qualities are what make mothers so great at what they do.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; letter-spacing: 0.2px;">Coercion is defined as "the practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats". Parents sometimes use coercion as a method of parenting.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Coercion is compelling others to act or choose in a certain way. Coercive parenting is a very tempting way to raise and treat children. Parents often think that it creates expediency and efficiency… they get what they wanted immediately… it must have worked. It gives parents the sense that their child is obeying them, so they must be doing the right thing because their child is complying with them. But, I can tell you right now that this is only an image and is actually not working at all.

<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; letter-spacing: 0.2px;">

<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; letter-spacing: 0.2px;">Coercion creates only short term compliance. In return the child will retaliate and want to leave the environment, or they will counter coercion by doing the things they know they are not supposed to be doing to get even.

I think the best way for parents to get past the temptation to coerce children is by understanding the outcome it can have on the child. I think if parents could see the long term effect that this style of parenting had on the child they wouldn’t feel so tempted to treat their child this way. I also think that if parents were educated and knew that there were others ways to get the child to do what you wanted him to do they would be more willing to try something different. I think another big way to not coerce children is to see them the way our Father in Heaven sees them. To love them and understand that they are children and that we need to love and respect them.

"The family that embraces multiple opportunities to teach will generally find that they need to discipline their children less often as their children internalize principles ad gradually evidence greater ability for self-control."

My husband and I do not have any children yet. But, I know that learning different parenting techniques will set us up for success. We can understand now how we want to raise our children so that when we get into these situations we will know how to handle them.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I love the idea of turning towards one another. I think this is so important in every marriage. I have found comfort in knowing that I can turn to my husband anytime there is a trial or even when I'm just having a bad day. I find so much love and peace knowing I have someone who cares so much about me and wants the best for me.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">In the book "successful marriages and families" it talks about how important it is to stay connected in the little ways. These little ways can be as simple as picking up his shoes and putting them in his closet. I have found that when I do things for my husband I feel more love for him and find myself really caring for him. I want to know more about him so that I can do more of the things that he loves.

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

I have come to know my husband through sharing things with him and I have come to see him the way my Father in Heaven sees him as he shares things with me. There is no other person in the world I would want to confide in. I have found that when we turn towards one another in those hard times our connection and relationship and love for one another is strengthened.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Marriage is essential to our Heavenly Father's eternal plan. The Family Proclamation says:

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife".

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It is our responsibility to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. Besides that we also are commanded to become unified as husband and wife.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"Our Heavenly Father wants our hearts to be knit together."

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> This is a necessary part of marriage. When we facilitate oneness in marriage we are obeying the commandments of God. Intimacy in marriage is a gift given to us from our Father in Heaven. The sacred gift of creating life as he creates life. When we facilitate this we become closer as a couple, we become one. When we are unified as a couple we become closer to God.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; letter-spacing: 0.2px;">Knowing and understand what is healthy and appropriate is between the two of you. It is something that requires communication and guidance. In the book "Successful Marriages and Families" it teaches how important pillow talk at the end of the day is. To me, pillow talk is when you are going to bed and you just talk. This has been one of my favorite things in marriage! My husband and I stay up for hours just talking sometimes. Those have been some of my best memories yet! It gives us time to talk about our day and to show love for one another. That is the perfect time to talk about your goals and your expectations. Really its a time to talk about anything and everything.When it comes to sexuality and fidelity ultimately, our Father in Heaven will let us know when we are on the right path and where we need to be.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">As husbands and wives it is important for us to come together when it comes to making decisions. We may all come from different opinions and backgrounds but, that doesn't change the fact that a husband and wife should look to each other when it comes to making decisions.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

I think this goes back to picking a spouse that has similar goals and opinions as you in the first place. It is so important for us to be equally yoked with our spouse and that stems from being one in purpose and having the same goals. Along with that we need to set these goals early on in marriage so that when the time comes to make decisions we already know how we are going to handle the situation.

Although we all come from different backgrounds and opinions it is essential for husbands and wives to understand their roles and unity in marriage. We are meant to be equal partners. I think when a couple understand this they are able to come together and function the way God intended for a marriage to be.

"The Family: A Proclamation to the World teaches a husband-wife concept that clearly differs from both households where this hypothetical couple grew up. It states that fathers “are to preside” and “to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families,” while mothers “are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children.” Fathers and mothers are to “help one another” fulfill these duties as “equal partners.”"

My husband and I have made it a goal to pray together each night. I have noticed that when we are praying together and reading our scriptures together that those big decisions are easier to make and that The Lord is there guiding us.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Dating can be extremely tricky! In a world full of people how can you make sure you are marrying the right person? I have the answer... DATE! Going on dates is the key to finding someone you want to spend your life with. It is important for us to trust in the Lord and go on dates.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"The starting point for becoming ready for marriage is to develop faith in The Lord Jesus Christ and his divine plan for marriage and families."

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

Before my husband and I got marred I went on tons of dates with tons of different guys. This helped me to figure out the type of man I wanted to marry. When I met my husband we dated for an entire year before we got married. I can honestly say this was the best thing for us. In that year we really got to know each other and see each other in so many different situations. I felt like I truly knew who he was and loved him because of that.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">So I talked about the importance of dating before marriage and how that helps you find your eternal companion. But, it is equally important to continue dating once you are married.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">My husband and I have been married almost 2 years and I still get butterflies each time he asks me on a date. This is so important in marriage! Dating gives us that special time to really talk to one another and focus on each other. It is the time when we can talk about different things that are going on in our lives and really get to know each other. This is especially important for couples with busy schedules that rarely see each other. Dating in marriage helps you focus on one another and helps you to put each other first. It is a great way to learn new things about each other that you never knew before.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">When we go on dates we are getting to know each other better and making deeper connections with one another. When we go on dates we learn to put each other first and that helps nourish and strengthen our relationships. I have seen the effect of dating within marriage on different couples. Those who make going on a weekly date a priority are more in tune with their spouses emotions then those who do not.
This is why I have chosen to be married in the house of The Lord. The temple has given each and every one of us the opportunity to make it possible for us to be with our families forever.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"The temple is an ever present reminder that God intends the family to be eternal" (Ezra Taft Benson).

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I love that I can be sealed to my husband and that our children will be sealed to us. God intended for families to be forever that's why he gave us the temple so that we can enter into those covenants. We receive peace and blessings from the temple covenants and they hold us to a higher standard.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"When our children obey The Lord and go to the temple to receive their blessings and enter into the marriage covenant, they enter into the same order of the priesthood that God instituted in the very beginning with father Adam" (Ezra Taft Benson).

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Being in a covenant marriage I know that I can face opposition. It makes life a little easier when it comes to making big decisions because I untimely know the decision I should make. Being held to a higher standard is worth the blessings.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I know that when I am focused on my Heavenly Father, and striving to become like him I am ultimately strengthening my relationship with my husband and we are becoming closer. I am grateful for my covenant marriage and the standards it holds me to. Marriage is not easy, but I know it is worth it. Having faith and trust in The Lord strengthens my marriage and helps me to love and serve those around me. I want everyone to have the blessings of being with their families forever, this is why I am sharing this with you!
Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I know that marriage is between a man and a woman. The Family: A Proclamation to the World says,
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: #6fa8dc; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"THE FAMILY is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity."

Although I love those that choose to live differently than I believe I will not accept and see it the same way that they see it. I personally have several LDS friends who have come out and shared with the world that they are gay. They struggle with this, but they still testify and know that marriage is between a man and a woman.
I am thankful for my own marriage and how sacred that bond is to me. I know that marriage between a man and a woman is essential to God's plan for us. It is essential to raising His children.
